Migration is not a crime. Seeking safety is not illegal. Survival should never be punished. Across the world today, millions of people are forced to leave their homes due to war, persecution, climate disasters, and economic collapse. Yet instead of protection, many migrants and refugees are met with violence, detention, family separation, and policies that strip them of dignity and basic human rights. Borders may be political. Human lives are not.
The global migration system is brokenâand the cost is being paid in human lives. Every year, men, women, and children are forced to flee their homes because staying means war, hunger, persecution, or death. Yet instead of protection, many encounter closed borders, dangerous routes, prolonged detention, and policies designed to deter rather than protect. This is not a failure of resources. It is a failure of political will. Migration will not stop because of walls, pushbacks, or fear-based policies. It only becomes more dangerous. When safe and legal pathways are blocked, people are forced into the hands of smugglers, traffickers, and unsafe journeys that claim thousands of lives. We demand that governments and international bodies act responsibly by: Establishing safe, legal, and accessible migration pathways Upholding the right to seek asylum under international law Ending policies that expose migrants to violence, exploitation, or indefinite detention Protecting children, families, and vulnerable groups from harm Ensuring cooperation between nations instead of shifting responsibility Migration is a global reality. Ignoring itâor responding with crueltyâonly deepens the crisis. A world that benefits from global labor, trade, and movement cannot turn its back on human beings when they are most vulnerable. This petition is a call for policies rooted in law, compassion, and shared responsibility. Sign to demand a migration system that protects livesânot one that abandons them.
